Quick Capture
Create entries from anywhere with a keyboard shortcut, header button, or floating action button.
Overview
Quick Capture is the fastest way to create a new entry in Swashbuckler. It opens a dialog where you pick a template, then drops you straight into the editor with a new entry ready to go.
Triggers
| Trigger | Where |
|---|---|
| Cmd+E | Global keyboard shortcut — works from anywhere in the app |
| Header button | The + button in the app header |
| Floating button | The circular + button in the bottom-right corner |
How It Works
Step 1: Pick a Template
The dialog opens showing all templates in the current space. Select the template you want to create an entry for. Choose the plain entry option to create an entry without a specific template (assigned to the default Entry template).
If the selected template has custom variables, a variable prompt dialog appears asking you to fill them in before the entry is created.
Step 2: Edit
The new entry opens in the editor immediately. Start writing, fill in properties, and set an icon.
Keyboard Navigation
Quick Capture is fully keyboard-navigable:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Arrow Up / Down | Move between options |
| Enter | Select the highlighted option |
| Escape | Close the dialog |
